Republican South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham showed off his new “Make Iran Great Again” hat while advocating for U.S. intervention during an interview Sunday.
Graham appeared on Fox News to discuss President Donald Trump’s decision to capture and remove Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro on Saturday. The senator argued that Trump’s move undid the humiliation of the Afghanistan withdrawal under former President Joe Biden and addressed Cuba before Fox News’ Trey Gowdy pressed him on Iran.
“With Donald Trump, you have a bold visionary who doesn’t look for conflict but will not be trifled with. So here’s the message for the world: If you’re hurting America, you do so at your own peril,” the senator told Fox News’ Trey Gowdy.
The interview turned to Iran and the current protests underway in the country, which have already resulted in the deaths of multiple people. Gowdy asked Graham if the protests could be an opportunity to rid the world of the Islamic government. (RELATED: Beyond Oil, Trump May Be Able To Grasp Other Treasures In Venezuela)
Graham called out pro-Palestinian protestors over the demonstrations in Iran. “All the people who are protesting for the Palestinians, where are you today standing behind the people of Iran who are trying to throw over the Ayatollah?” he said.
The senator went on to call the Ayatollah a “religious Nazi” and accused him of killing a sixteen-year-old on a bus for not wearing a head cover.
“The people are in open revolt. They’ve chosen not to live this way anymore, and unlike [former President Barack] Obama, President Trump has not turned his back on the people of Iran. So I pray and hope that 2026 will be,” he said before pausing to put on a “Make Iran Great Again” hat, “the year that we make Iran great again.”
This is not the first time Graham has espoused such rhetoric regarding U.S. intervention in Iran.
During a Fox News interview Tuesday, Graham said, “To the people of Iran, we stand with you tonight. We stand for you taking back your country from the Ayatollah, a religious Nazi.”
“And to the Ayatollahs, you need to understand, if you keep killing your people, who are demanding a better life, Donald J Trump is going to kill you. Change is coming to Iran, it’ll be the biggest change in the history of the [Middle] East to get rid of this Nazi regime. To the people of Iran, help is on the way,” he went on to say.
After Trump ordered the bombing of Iran’s nuclear sites in June, Graham responded on X. “Count me in for any way possible to Make Iran Great Again by making it decent again. MIGA!” he wrote, applauding Trump’s efforts against the current regime.
