Actors and musicians shared their reactions to the death of Matthew Perry of Friends Saturday.

Singer-songwriter Adele paused her show in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Saturday night to honor Perry, even though she admitted she’d never met him. Adele described how big a fan she was of Friends when it first aired and how Perry’s character was a favorite that made her laugh.

“And I remember that character for the rest of my life,” Adele said. “He was so open with his struggles with addiction and sobriety, which I think is incredibly, incredibly brave. I just wanna say how much I love what he did for all of us.”

Similarly, the band The 1975 paid tribute with the theme song of Friends playing as the background music before their show in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on Saturday. The song “I’ll Be There For You” by the Rembrandts was played in the title sequence before every episode, as the song was written and released in 1995 for the show.

Saturday Night Live kicked its show off Saturday with a moment of silence in Perry’s honor while broadcasting his picture. Perry once hosted SNL in 1997.

The Foo Fighters, who happened to be SNL’s musical guest on Saturday, also wished Perry to rest in peace.

“D***. For 2 years Matthew Perry was my boss, my colleague, and a giving, kind, funny man,” actor Wendell Pierce wrote. “I pray and hope he is at peace.”

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau also shared his thoughts as he attended Rockcliffe Park Elementary in Ottawa, Canada, alongside Perry.

Matthew Perry’s passing is shocking and saddening. I’ll never forget the schoolyard games we used to play, and I know people around the world are never going to forget the joy he brought them. Thanks for all the laughs, Matthew. You were loved – and you will be missed.
