Rep. Cori Bush (D-MO) denounced Israel‘s military operation into Gaza against Hamas terrorists as an “ethnic cleansing,” while calling for the U.S. to pull funds from the Jewish state.
The Missouri Democrat accused Israel of killing babies, pregnant women, the elderly, and “generations of families,” in a reaction to a speech by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in a post on X on Sunday.

“We can’t be silent about Israel’s ethnic cleansing campaign. Babies, dead. Pregnant women, dead. Elderly, dead. Generations of families, dead. Millions of people in Gaza with nowhere to go being slaughtered. The U.S. must stop funding these atrocities against Palestinians,” Bush said in the post.
Israel’s ground campaign into Gaza began over the weekend as the conflict, which was sparked by terrorist attacks on Oct. 7 that killed thousands of Israelis, entered a “new phase.” The Jewish state warned civilians in Gaza to evacuate for weeks ahead of the expected ground campaign by the IDF.
Bush, along with other members of the “Squad,” has been a fierce critic of Israel in its war against Hamas. The Missouri Democrat and several other House Democrats have called for a ceasefire between the terrorist group and Israel.

President Joe Biden has pledged support to Israel and its right to defend itself in the aftermath of the terrorist attacks, which has garnered criticism from progressive Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-WA), who claims it could hurt him voters in 2024.
The conflict has resulted in more than 6,000 deaths in Israel and Gaza, according to the Associated Press, along with the deaths of at least 33 Americans. Hamas is currently holding hundreds of civilians, who they captured during the attacks earlier this month.
