EXPOSED: Footage Reveals Alex Pretti Vandalizing Federal Law Enforcement Vehicle Days Before His Death | Drew Hernandez

Newly released footage analysed and distributed by BBC News in partnership with The News Movement appears to show Alex Pretti spitting toward or on a federal immigration agent and twice kicking a federal law enforcement in its rear, shattering the taillight, during a 13 January confrontation with ICE agents, 11 days before he was fatally shot by federal officers.

In the video, verified by BBC journalists and other outlets, after Pretti’s aggression, agents are seen exiting the SUV, grabbing Pretti by the jacket, tackling him to the pavement and pinning him down as tear gas or chemical irritants are deployed into the surrounding crowd. CBS News, ABC News and local affiliates report that Pretti’s family and attorney have confirmed it is him in the footage and say he was injured in the encounter but did not seek medical treatment at the time.

CNN, in a separate reconstruction of the shooting that killed Pretti, previously reported that, according to people briefed on the case, the Jan. 13 clash left him with a broken rib roughly a week before agents shot him multiple times after resisting arrest during agents attempts to carry out Operation Metro Surge in Minneapolis. These two reports seem to line up and actually reveal, Alex Pretti clearly displayed violent behavior at so called “peaceful protests.”

The newly surfaced video has intensified debate over Pretti’s actions, with some critics arguing on social media that spitting at officers and damaging a federal vehicle showed him to be an aggressor and undermined portrayals of him as a purely peaceful protester. On Truth Social and X, high‑profile conservative accounts amplified the clip, with some users labeling Pretti a “domestic terrorist” and suggesting the earlier tail light incident showed a pattern of hostility toward law enforcement.

Comment threads on Facebook posts by local TV stations sharing the video are filled with users condemning Pretti for “fighting with a federal agent” or mocking supporters who question the footage’s authenticity, even as others are attempting to insist that nothing in the January 13 video justifies his later killing.
