FBI Director Christopher Wray did not say definitively whether he will cooperate with Republican Iowa Sen. Chuck Grassley’s oversight of how the FBI handled information about the Biden family’s foreign business dealings.
Wray testified before the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee on Tuesday and Republican Wisconsin Sen. Ron Johnson pressed Wray on a letter Grassley wrote on Oct. 24 detailing how more than 40 confidential human sources provided “criminal information” about Joe Biden, Hunter Biden and James Biden. “I’m assuming you’ve seen and read the letter Senator Grassley wrote to you and Attorney General Garland on October 24th,” Johnson began. “The FBI maintained over 40 confidential human sources that provided criminal information related to Joe Biden, James Biden and Hunter Biden. An essential question that must be answered in this: did the FBI investigate the information or shut it down?” Johnson said, quoting the letter.
He continued to read Grassley’s letter and his description of how the FBI allegedly undermined its own confidential human sources by falsely labeling their intelligence as foreign disinformation.
“There appears to be an effort within the Justice Department and FBI to shut down investigative activity relating to the Biden family. Such decisions point to significant political bias infecting the decision making of not only the Attorney General and FBI director, but also line agents and prosecutors. Our Republic cannot survive such a political infection, and you have an obligation to this country to clear the air,” Johnson continued, quoting Grassley’s letter.
He shared a column from The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) about Grassley’s letter and testimony from former U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Pennsylvania Scott Brady, who detailed how the FBI apparently stonewalled investigative steps surrounding information related to Hunter Biden’s business dealings with Ukrainian energy firm Burisma Holdings, according to a transcript of his testimony reviewed by the Daily Caller. Brady also testified on how he vetted the FBI FD-1023 form containing allegations Burisma founder Mykola Zlochevsky bragged about bribing Joe and Hunter Biden $5 million each. Brady confirmed that the bribery allegations came from a confidential source with previous experience supplying information to the FBI.

“Senator Grassley’s letter concludes that he has obtained names from his whistleblower, 25 Department of Justice, FBI personnel to interview at a future date. He is also requesting a bunch of information. Will you provide those FBI personnel for interviews with his office and mine and will you provide those documents?” Johnson asked.
“I’ll have to review the specific requests and we’ll see how we can be helpful,” Wray stated. Johnson offered to share Grassley’s letter with Wray afterwards.
Hunter Biden received $83,333.33 per month from Burisma as a board member of the company, according to bank records released in August by the House Oversight Committee. He had no prior experience with the energy sector or Ukraine when Burisma brought Hunter Biden onto its board.
The FBI previously declined to comment on the Grassley letter and referred the Daily Caller to special counsel David Weiss, the lead prosecutor in the ongoing Department of Justice (DOJ) investigation into Hunter Biden’s taxes and firearms possession.
“The FBI’s investigative work is thorough, methodical, and rigorous. We follow the facts without regard for politics. Any information we receive must be verified, whether it is a tip provided by the a member of the public or information provided by a source,” the FBI told the Daily Caller in a statement about Brady’s testimony.
“While other opinions and criticism often come with the job, we will continue to follow the facts wherever they lead, do things by the book, and speak through our work.”
