The boy’s 42-year-old mother drove her three children and nephew to the suspect’s house, thinking it was her 10-year-old daughter’s friend’s house, according to the outlet. The 10-year-old and six-year-old boy exited the vehicle and rang the suspect’s doorbell to deliver a Halloween goodie bag, which they left at his doorstep before driving away, NBC reported, citing a statement from the Nassau County Police Department.
The family returned to the suspect’s house soon after the 10-year-old realized they’d dropped the goodie bag at the wrong address, according to the outlet. When the six-year-old stepped out of the car to retrieve the candy bag, Wen opened the door and held up a black handgun to the child’s head, police said.
