An Ohio man was rushed to the hospital and is in critical condition after his lawn mower flipped over into a pond and trapped him underneath Tuesday, according to WLWT.
“Our personnel were dispatched to the leasing office at the Villages of Wildwood for a person who was submerged in the water and drowning,” deputy chief of the Fairfield Fire Dept. Randy McCreadie said, according to WLWT. (RELATED: Single Mom Riding Lawnmower Dies In Freak Accident With Airplane Wing In Oklahoma: Reports)

“Our personnel arrived to find a male under a lawnmower on the edge of the pond. He was submerged under the water — unconscious, unresponsive,” McCreadie said, per the outlet.
McCreadie then mentioned the Ohio lawnmower operator was removed from the pond, and paramedics performed lifesaving measures. The injured man was then taken to the hospital where he continues to fight for his life, McCreadie said, according to WLWT.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has opened an investigation into the matter over potential workplace safety or health regulations violations, citing the fact the injured lawnmower operator is an employee of All Seasons Lawn & Snow, Journal-News reported. The agency has six months to complete its investigation, which could result in a citation and/or monetary penalties if issues are found.
OSHA is charged with ensuring businesses meet federal work safety standards and was created in the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970 passed by Congress.
