The case of former Louisiana mayor Misty Roberts, accused of having sex with her son’s underage friend, is unfolding in court.
Police initially arrested 42-year-old former DeRidder mayor Roberts in August 2024 on charges of third-degree rape and contributing to the delinquency of juveniles, according to Louisiana State Police. She was rearraigned in 2026 on charges of carnal knowledge of a juvenile and indecent behavior with a juvenile after a mistrial, KPLC News reported.
Roberts’ children previously alleged that they caught her with the alleged minor victim during a party in the videos shown at court, according to KPLC News.
An interview with Roberts’ son from 2025 was shown in court Feb. 27 in which he claimed that he witnessed his mother having sex with his friend using a crack in a window. While on the stand, he told jurors he wasn’t certain about exactly what he witnessed.
Roberts’ daughter also took the stand while her previous interview with investigators was played. In the video, she alleged she saw her mother and the boy “on top of each other,” according to KPLC.
Prosecutors revealed text exchanges between Roberts and her son allegedly discussing the alcohol the kids desired for the party.
The jury was shown messages allegedly sent to Roberts by her son on the evening in question. He allegedly told her what took place was crazy and claimed his sister was crying.
A text to his mom allegedly said, “He is seventeen.” The boy in question was identified to be sixteen at the time of the alleged sexual assault, KPLC noted.
The jury heard from several witnesses, including a man who alleged he delivered Plan B to the former mayor’s door while working as a DoorDash delivery driver shortly after her alleged sexual encounter with the teenaged boy, KPLC reported. He testified that he took a request from “Misty C” to buy the emergency contraceptive and drop it in front of her house. The driver claimed he knew who Roberts was because he had taken his children trick-or-treating to her home before.
Prosecutors told the court the mother of the alleged victim messaged Roberts to check if she was pregnant and the former mayor replied to say she was taking birth control, according to KPLC. The prosecution said Roberts sent a screenshot of the message in a group chat with some of her friends while indicating she would also use the Plan B contraceptive.
The Lake Charles American Press reported that Jill Weaver, who called herself Roberts’ best friend and former sister-in-law, alleged that her son called her to the Roberts household because the former mayor and her son were arguing.

The jury was presented with photographs of the 2024 party that allegedly showed minors with drinks by the pool and an image the prosecution described as “lewd.” That image allegedly showed Roberts wearing a bikini at the gathering with the teen gazing at her and smiling.
None of the witnesses who testified in court claimed they witnessed the “private parts” of Roberts or the teenager, according to KPLC.
