Verdict: False
There is no truth to the claim. It stems from an article by a website known for publishing misinformation.
Fact Check:
House Speaker Mike Johnson has vowed to proceed with a $14.5 billion aid package for Israel, according to CNN. In order to make this happen, however, there would need to be $14.3 billion in funding cuts for the Internal Revenue Service, which would negatively affect the Inflation Reduction Act implemented last year, The Hill reported.
An X post claims an Israeli leader encouraged gassing Palestinians. The post shares a screenshot of an article covering the claim with an image of a man shaking his finger.
“Israeli Leader: ‘It’s Time To Turn Gaza Into Dresden! Gas the Palestinians Now!’” the headline reads.
The post is inaccurate, however. There are no credible news reports to corroborate the claim.
The screenshot seen in the post stems from The People’s Voice, a site that regularly posts misinformation. The site’s “Terms of Use” page indicates that it “makes no representations about the suitability, reliability, availability, timeliness, and accuracy of the information, software, products, services and related graphics contained on the site for any purpose.”
