President Joe Biden was heckled during a speech by a bearded rabbi calling for a ceasefire in Gaza.

The incident occurred while Biden gave a speech at a campaign event in Minnesota. Jessica Rosenberg, a Reconstructionist rabbi and activist with the Jewish Voice for Peace group, stood up in the middle of the speech and called on Biden to push for a ceasefire in Gaza.

“Mr. President, if you care about Jewish people, as a rabbi, I need for you to call for a ceasefire, right now, in Gaza,” Rosenberg said.

The rest of Rosenberg’s comments couldn’t be heard in the video of the interaction because Rosenberg was drowned out by denunciations from the crowd.

The heckling got a response from Biden, who responded by agreeing that a “pause” was needed.

“I think we need a pause. A pause means give time to get the prisoners out,” he told Rosenberg, according to the Daily Mail, referring to the hostages held by Hamas in Gaza.

“I’m the guy that convinced Bibi [Netanyahu] to call for a ceasefire to let the prisoners out. I’m the guy that talked to [Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi] to convince him to open the door,” he added.

Rosenberg was then escorted out while chanting, “Ceasefire now!”

The organization Jewish Voice for Peace has been involved in several high-profile protests, including one outside the White House that led to several arrests. Last month, it was part of a demonstration in the United States Capitol calling for a ceasefire in Gaza, which was slammed by critics as an “insurrection.”
