California’s Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program wraps up payments for November, worth up to $1,751, to low-income households in seven days.

The federal SNAP program, known as CalFresh in the Golden State, began issuing payments on the 1st of the month and ends Nov. 10. Payments will be distributed to qualified low-income households depending on the recipient’s case number.

For example, if a case number ends in 1, California recipients can expect to see their CalFresh benefits on Nov. 1. If a case number ends in 2, SNAP benefits will be available on Nov. 2. The payment dates continue until Nov. 10, when those with a case number ending in 0 will receive their payment.

To qualify for SNAP, California households must have a monthly gross income at or below 130% of the federal poverty level. The maximum payment is $291 for a household of one, $973 for a household of four, and $1,751 for a household of eight. Up to $219 is added to a household’s food stamps for each member after eight.

SNAP benefits are loaded onto an electronic benefits transfer card every month, and recipients can use the card at grocery stores to purchase eligible products such as fruits, vegetables, bread, meat and poultry, and drinks. Recipients are barred from using SNAP benefits for products such as pet food, alcohol, and household items such as paper and soap.
