Dolly Parton won’t back down from releasing a new song with fellow artist Kid Rock.

Parton is about to release her rock album, which features nine new releases and 21 classic rock songs, all featuring other artists such as Joan Jett, Miley Cyrus, Sting, Steve Perry, Pat Benatar, Elton John, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, and more. She revealed in an interview that of all the collaborations, she has received pushback about Rock.

“Just like I did a song with Kid Rock on this album. Of course, I did that before the controversy that he had, but somebody was talking to me the other day: ‘How could you do this [song] with Kid?’ I said: ‘Hey, just because I love you don’t mean I don’t love Kid Rock. Just because I love Kid Rock don’t mean I don’t love you,'” Parton said. “I don’t condemn or criticize. I just accept and love.”

Parton was likely referring to when Rock shot up several cases of Bud Light in April. He unloaded several rounds until cans were dispersed on the ground and alcohol was leaking from the cases. This came after the company partnered with transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney, known for the “Days of Girlhood” series on TikTok.

Later, months after boycotting the brand, Rock was captured in photos drinking a Bud Light.

This album comes after Parton was floated as a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee but refused, as she had not yet produced any rock songs.
