A quick-thinking West Virginia convenience store clerk is going viral after foiling a violent female robber with savvy move.

As WCHS reported, a woman identified as Rebecca Peterson entered the Shell station on Little Coal River Road in Lincoln County looking for some quick cash and was apparently willing to kill to get it.

Police say the incident occurred Friday morning at 4 a.m.

Surveillance from the store shows Peterson, 42, introducing herself to the worker and telling him she was there to rob the store. After the two exchange words, Peterson fires a shot against the counter wall, spooking the employee.

But the worker remains calm, and talks Peterson into putting the gun down at one point. Then, he employs what could be characterized as a Jedi Mind Trick on her.

He tells Peterson that the owner is in the back room and to run towards it. She believes him and races in that direction.

There’s only one problem: the owner is nowhere to be found.

After searching the room and finding nothing, Peterson fires a shot at a camera inside. The worker then takes this opportunity to run out of the store and call the police.

WATCH:

Peterson exited the store and took off in a black SUV which went northbound on U.S. 119.

Police were able to catch up to her a short time later and placed her under arrest.

They also recovered the firearm involved in the incident.

Peterson faces several charges including attempted armed robbery, wanton endangerment, and destruction of property.

She is currently awaiting arraignment. State police told WTRF the investigation remains ongoing.
