NEW: Trump to Hold Cabinet Meeting at Camp David Wednesday Following US “Self Defense” Strikes on Iran

President Trump is scheduled to make a rare trip to his presidential retreat at Camp David in Northern Maryland on Wednesday to hold a cabinet meeting.
According to a report from the New York Post, the meeting with all cabinet members will focus on the Trump administration’s successes ahead of the midterm elections.
Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, who announced her resignation at the end of June, will also be in attendance.
The war in Iran is expected to be a focus following US strikes, hitting two IRGC boats mining the critical Strait of Hormuz and a surface-to-air missile site in Bandar Abbas on Monday.
According to CENTCOM spokesperson Capt. Tim Hawkins, the strikes were carried out “to protect our troops from threats posed by Iranian forces.” Officials insisted the US was still exercising restraint amid the fragile ceasefire environment.
This comes after Trump announced a “largely negotiated” framework for a peace deal on Saturday. Included in the plan is a 60-day ceasefire, the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, concessions from Iran on nuclear enrichment, and an Israel-Hezbollah ceasefire.
Early reports on the deal suggest that an agreement is near and that Iran is poised to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and abandon its nuclear enrichment program.
Trump announced on Monday that he seeks to mandate that all Middle East mediators and Iran sign on to the Abraham Accords and secure lasting peace as a condition of a deal.
Trump on Monday further provided an update on the US’s deal with Iran, outlining terms for the destruction of Iran's enriched uranium.
Per the New York Post:
All cabinet members — including outgoing Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard — are expected to join Trump at the presidential retreat in rural Maryland.
The meeting location could change due to bad weather. Trump typically flies to Camp David via helicopter, but Washington, DC, has been experiencing heavy rain in recent days, which could force the trip to be scrapped.
Officials will discuss “recent successes of the administration including economy and small business wins, Task Force to Eliminate Fraud highlights, and foreign policy updates,” according to a White House official.
The administration is also working to highlight its work on affordability and other issues of concern to voters ahead of the November midterm elections.
This is a developing story.
