Sen. Jon Tester’s (D-MT) 2024 reelection campaign released a new advertisement Tuesday highlighting the topics most important to Montana voters and how he differs from other senators, including his fellow Democratic colleagues.
“Things are too expensive,” Tester said in the ad, titled “Big Sandy,” pointing to the economy and inflation, which voters have indicated is the most important topic going into the election year.

“Some families are being forced to sell their farms they’ve had for generations,” he added.
The 60-second spot is reportedly backed by a six-figure ad purchase and will run throughout the state.
“I’m defending our way of life with everything I’ve got. I’m protecting our freedoms because Montanans don’t like to be told how to live by anyone, especially the government,” the senator said in the ad.
“I may not look like the other senators, but that’s not stopping me from making Washington understand what makes Montana so special,” Tester continued.

The Montana Democrat’s Senate seat is considered one of the most competitive races of 2024 as Tester looks to distance himself from President Joe Biden, who has grown increasingly unpopular. Tester, along with several other Democratic senators in close races, recently broke with Biden, calling on his administration to refreeze $6 billion in Iranian assets, which had been unfrozen as part of a prisoner swap deal with the country. Tester’s pushing of Biden came after the attacks on Israel last month, carried out by Iran-backed terrorist group Hamas.
Tester is facing off against Bridger Aerospace CEO and former Navy SEAL Tim Sheehy, who is running for the seat as a Republican. Sheehy has already started running ads in the state. The Cook Political Report has rated the race as “lean Democratic.”
