Class-action settlement: Deadline for Dude Wipes customers to file claim in $9 million settlement in four days

There are four more days for Dude Wipes customers to file a claim for a piece of a $9 million class-action settlement with the company for allegedly misleading consumers about its products.

The company was accused by customers of making them believe its wipes were “flushable” when they were not, leading to legal action by the group of consumers. Dude Products has denied any wrongdoing but has agreed to the settlement to avoid litigation on the matter. The court set a deadline of Nov. 11 for people to file a claim in this settlement.

Those who are eligible for the settlement and file a claim can receive up to $0.50 per product, with a maximum of five claims per household without proof of purchase or a maximum of 40 claims per household with proof of purchase. Consumers may submit their claims either with proof of purchase or without proof of purchase, but not both.

To qualify for a payment from this settlement, an affected customer must file a claim; otherwise, they will not receive any money. Consumers who purchased the wipes between Feb. 5, 2015, and Aug. 8, 2023, are eligible for a piece of the up to $9 million settlement.

The court has scheduled a final approval hearing for the settlement for Nov. 16, when consumers will be allowed to speak about the proposed settlement. If a customer agrees to it, he or she will be bound to the terms of the agreement and will give up certain rights to file claims against the company. More information about this settlement involving Dude Wipes can be found on the website, which was authorized by the court.

Among the other class-action settlements with a November filing deadline is for Capital One customers after a hacker accessed millions of customers’ personal information. Affected Capital One customers have until Nov. 27 to claim a piece of that settlement.
