UPDATE: Axios reports that President Trump spoke to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and told him not to retaliate against Iran amid fragile negotiations between the US and Iran. “We are close to doing something good in terms of a deal,” Trump told Netanyahu, according to a US official familiar with the phone call.

The official says Netanyahu pushed back on Trump but eventually “pseudo-agreed” to the President’s demands.

“We think the president bought a little bit of time. He is pretty adamant that we are close to a deal with Iran. I don’t think anything is imminent in terms of an Israeli strike,” the U.S. official said. “We are in a moment in time —  that why jeopardize a potential deal when you are in the fourth quarter. The President thinks that we have been in this thing for three months — now is the time to end this thing.”

President Trump has responded to Iran launching missiles at Northern Israel, calling on both sides to immediately de-escalate and return to peace negotiations.

“Israel had its strike and Iran had its strike. We don’t need another one,” Trump said, noting that “We are very close to a final deal with Iran.”

Per Axios’s Barak Ravid, Trump said, “I am going to call Bibi right now and tell him not to retaliate. Each of them had their fun. Israel had its strike and Iran had its strike. We don’t need another one.”

“The Iranian strikes didn’t hurt anybody. Hopefully Israel is not going to retaliate. If Bibi strikes them back it’s just gonna keep going like the last 47 years, or the last 3000 years,” Trump added. “We are very close to a final deal with Iran. It is going to be a good deal. I don’t want it to blow up because of what is happening now.”

Per Fox’s Trey Yingst, Trump initially responded to the attack, saying, “What I would suggest to Iran: You’ve shot your missiles, that’s enough. Get back to the table and make a deal.”

Spoke with President Trump. We’ll have more on Fox News in a few minutes.

“What I would suggest to Iran: You’ve shot your missiles, that’s enough. Get back to the table and make a deal,” President Trump told Fox News.

Yingst also reports that Trump said he expects an agreement to be signed early this week. Trump denied that IDF strikes in Beirut were coordinated with the United States, adding that he’s “not happy.”

“It’s certainly not going to help negotiations,” Trump said.

WATCH:

As The Gateway Pundit reported earlier, Israel launched an attack on two apartment buildings in Beirut, Lebanon, after intercepting Hezbollah missiles in northern Israel.

The IDF released video from the strikes, saying the target was a “headquarters where terrorists from the Hezbollah terror organization were operating in Dahiyeh.”

WATCH:

Iranian officials then began threatening the US and Israel following the strikes in the Dahiyeh suburb of Beirut, jeopardizing negotiations over the “memorandum of understanding” (MOU) and 60-day ceasefire that Trump announced late last month.

Iran later launched a ballistic missile attack targeting northern Israel. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said the missiles were meant as a “warning” if Israeli offensives continue.

The Gateway Pundit will continue to provide updates on the US-Iran negotiations and the ongoing fighting between Israel and Hezbollah.
