Police Investigate Terrifying Rumor That ICE Used A Parking Lot

A Maryland police department revealed “suspected ICE activity” in a Facebook post Monday and assured the public that “at no time” did the agency interact with the federal agency’s vehicle.

On Monday, the Annapolis Police Department (APD) obtained reports from locals that a suspected Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) “vehicle was seen in the APD parking lot just before noon,” the agency posted to their Facebook page. APD checked their cameras and verified that the “suspected ICE vehicle” entered their parking lot and was followed by a second vehicle. The Homeland Security Department (DHS) reportedly placed Annapolis on a list of “sanctuary jurisdictions” in March 2025, WBAL reported. However, the department later removed the list, NPR reported in June 2025.

“The suspected ICE vehicle waited until the following vehicle left the parking lot and then exited the lot as well,” the APD wrote. “At no time did the vehicle enter the restricted portion of the lot or interact with any sworn or civilian APD staff.” (RELATED: Illegal Immigrant Allegedly Strikes ICE Agent With Car While Fleeing Arrest)

The City of Annapolis said they and the APD “do not coordinate with immigration enforcement, both by law … and by practice” in an April 2026 statement. “ICE does not inform APD or City leadership when conducting operations within municipal boundaries, a practice consistent with its activities elsewhere,” they said. “Further, the City has no legal means to prevent federal law enforcement from using public parking lots.”

“Being an undocumented immigrant is not a crime,” the city claimed. 8 U.S. Code § 1325 addresses “[i]mproper entry” into the U.S. and lists, “Improper time or place; avoidance of examination or inspection; misrepresentation and concealment of facts.”

“Any alien who (1) enters or attempts to enter the Unuted States at any time or place other than as designated by immigration officers, or (2) eludes examination or inspection by immigration officers, or (3) attempts to enter or obtains entry to the United States by a willfully false or misleading representation or the willful concealment of a material fact, shall, for the first commission of any such offense, be fined unter title 18 or imprisoned not more than 6 months, or both, and, for the subsequent commission of any such offense, be fined under title 18, or imprisoned not more than 2 years, or both,” it reads.

The APD declined to comment to the Daily Caller. ICE and DHS have not responded to requests for comment.
