WATCH: “Ted, You Suck!” – Ted Cruz Booed Mercilessly During ESPN Interview in His Home State

Ted Cruz joins ESPN’s College GameDay at the University of Texas

Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) is going viral this morning after an appearance on ESPN’s College GameDay with host Rece Davis did not go as planned. 

Cruz spoke to ESPN for about ten minutes on Saturday morning to discuss the “Protect College Sports Act,” Cruz’s bipartisan bill to create a national framework and regulations on the chaotic market of college athletics.

But Cruz, who has floated 2028 aspirations, could barely be heard over the hecklers and boos from day-drinking college students.

This happened at the University of Texas’ Austin Campus as the Longhorns prepared to face off against the No. 1 Ohio State Buckeyes.

At one point, the live audience behind him could be heard shouting, “Ted, you suck!”

As noted by Fox, the booing is likely because Cruz “A) is a Republican and college campuses lean left, B) students don’t want politics on a sports show, C) Austin is a town, or C) all the above.”

Or, they were just having some fun.

Many on social media pointed out that it shouldn’t come as much of a surprise that a Republican official was booed on a college campus in a liberal town.

One user defended Cruz’s “spot on message” and the legislation, slamming the liberal college students.

Trump advisor Alex Bruesewitz trolled Cruz, asking him to stop doing media appearances, calling his airtime “a repellent to our efforts” to win the midterms.
