DNC chairman takes aim at RNC counterpart over Trump’s ‘vermin’ comment

EXCLUSIVE — Democrats are ripping Republicans for not calling out former President Donald Trump for describing his political opponents as “vermin.”

Democratic National Committee Chairman Jaime Harrison said it was “unconscionable” for Republicans, including counterpart Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel, to “sit” on their hands while Trump “tries to tear down our democracy.”

“Donald Trump has repeatedly expressed his disdain and disrespect for our nation’s heroes in uniform, but this weekend, he stooped to new lows when he used a Veterans Day speech to spew dangerous rhetoric, parroting the language of Adolf Hitler and labeling his political enemies as ‘vermin’ that he vowed to ‘root out,'” Harrison told the Washington Examiner.

He added: “It should be easy to denounce rhetoric reminiscent of Hitler and Mussolini, yet the chair of the Republican Party, Ronna McDaniel, refuses to stand up to the de facto leader of her party and denounce his un-American rhetoric.”

For Harrison, Trump’s behavior was “dangerous, disgusting, and disqualifying for anyone seeking the highest office in the land.”

McDaniel declined to comment on Trump’s remarks during an interview last weekend, citing her desire to remain neutral during the 2024 Republican primary. The chairwoman has responded to criticism directed at her by biotechnology entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy.

A day earlier, Trump told a crowd in New Hampshire that he would “root out the communists, Marxists, fascists, and the radical Left thugs that live like vermin within the confines of our country that lie and steal and cheat on elections.”

The Trump campaign has defended Trump’s statement, contending his critics “are clearly snowflakes grasping for anything because they are suffering from Trump Derangement Syndrome and their entire existence will be crushed when President Trump returns to the White House.”
