The first group of illegal immigrants shipped to Brooklyn’s Floyd Bennett Field, a makeshift area for immigrants, left Sunday after they were reportedly disgusted by the area’s condition.

Families of immigrants arrived by the dozen at the Adams administration shelter facility beginning around 12:30 p.m., according to a report.

After combing over the area, the immigrants were so unnerved by the conditions that they climbed back onto the buses they arrived in and returned to their previous shelters.

“We weren’t told where we were going,” one immigrant said. “I work in the Bronx. My kids go to school in the Bronx. For us to live out here is ridiculous.”

“We’re going back,” they said.

Another immigrant who had purportedly been housed in Midtown Manhattan’s Roosevelt Hotel headed back to the hotel, according to the report.

“They are going to take us back to the train so we can go back to 45th Street,” the immigrant said. “We didn’t know we were coming here. They just said they were taking us to a shelter.”

“I cannot stay here. … This is crazy,” they said.

Floyd Bennett Field is anticipated to eventually house upward of 2,000 immigrants, but the site has drawn widespread criticism stemming from its location to fire safety concerns, the report noted.

“When I asked him why did they leave immediately like that, he said the people, they were scared,” state Assemblywoman Jaime Williams said regarding a conversation she had with a city Health + Hospitals worker. “They weren’t sure what they were doing here. They don’t want to be here, and they asked to leave.”

“They said, ‘It’s so isolated, how could I possibly get back and forth to work?’ or, ‘Getting my children to school from here would be insane.’ So they all asked to leave,” she said.

The tent city is a “disaster waiting to happen,” Williams said.

“It’s one of the coldest days so far. There’s going to be a frost tonight,” she said. “It’s not the ideal location for anyone to live. There’s no supermarket. There’s no infrastructure.”

“I’m going to reach out to the Legal Aid Society and the mayor and the governor and ask them to revoke the lease on this site,” she said.
