Rep. Tim Burchett (R-TN) says that one of his fellow Republicans who voted to oust Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) from the speakership last month will “take care” of the former House speaker if he tries to interfere with her reelection campaign.

Burchett said on Newsmax’s Wake Up America that Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) told him that she would deal with the ousted speaker if he uses any of his campaign funds to go after her.

“Yeah, it’s the classic throwing — when you’re a kid, throwing a rock over the fence at somebody then running home behind your mama’s skirt. He also has $17 million in an account that he’ll be messing in a lot of people like mine and Nancy Mace’s campaigns, I’m sure,” Burchett said.

Newsmax host Rob Finnerty then said Mace had “some stuff that he doesn’t want out there in the public” that she could use against McCarthy if she is attacked by the former speaker, to which Burchett agreed.

“Yeah, she’s already told me. She said, ‘I hope he does that with me’ and she’ll take care of him,” Burchett said. “She takes care of her own.”

He then called it an “unfortunate” ending to his career while also adding that he was praying for McCarthy. Burchett was one of eight Republicans who voted with all Democrats to oust McCarthy from the speakership in October, leading to a three-week vacancy before House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) was elected.

Burchett accused McCarthy of forcefully elbowing him in the kidney at the Capitol on Tuesday, later saying the former House speaker was “spinning out of control.” McCarthy has denied the accusation from Burchett, saying if he had elbowed him there, he would be on the ground in pain.

McCarthy has previously railed against the “crazy eight” who caused chaos in the House GOP conference by ousting him from the speakership and paralyzing the House for more than three weeks.
