Class-action settlement: Deadline to file for $3.6 million Spartan Mosquito repellent settlement in three days
November 28, 2023 12:05 PM
The deadline to submit a claim in a $3.6 million class-action settlement for Spartan Mosquito repellent is approaching, with only three days left.
AC2T, a Mississippi-based company that manufactures the repellent, faced a lawsuit over alleged false advertising for its Spartan Mosquito Eradicator and agreed to the settlement earlier this year. To qualify for a payout from the Spartan Mosquito settlement, consumers must have purchased products, such as Spartan Mosquito Eradicator and Spartan Mosquito Pro Tech, between Dec. 21, 2016, and Aug. 2, 2023.

Interested customers have until Dec. 1 to file a claim, which can be filled out here. Filers can either send a claim form by mail, which must be postmarked by the deadline, or fill one out online. New York’s Kings County Supreme Court will hold a hearing on Dec. 4 to decide the final approval for the class-action settlement.
Multiple factors will determine the total a consumer’s payout could amount to. Those without proof of purchase can file a claim for up to $7 for one qualifying Spartan Mosquito repellent per household. Those who provide proof of purchase can receive $10 per household.

AC2T was met with a class-action lawsuit after allegations that its advertising, which claimed the product would reduce mosquito populations for 15 days, was false. Plaintiffs said the company misled consumers and that the repellent did not perform as advertised. The company has not admitted wrongdoing but agreed to the settlement to resolve the lawsuit.
