Melania Trump makes rare public appearance to lead first ladies at Rosalynn Carter tribute

Former first lady Melania Trump made a rare public appearance Tuesday to pay tribute to Rosalynn Carter.

Trump settled into a more private life after the White House away from her husband’s 2024 campaign appearances and reportedly had been a reluctant first lady. She not only attended the late first lady’s memorial service but led dignitaries into Glenn Memorial United Methodist Church for the tribute.

Following Trump were fellow former first ladies Michelle Obama, Laura Bush, and Hillary Clinton.

Along with them were President Joe Biden and first lady Jill Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris and second gentleman Doug Emhoff, former President Jimmy Carter, who left hospice care to attend, and many other state and local elected officials.

Rosalynn Carter was first lady from 1977 to 1981, and she died peacefully earlier this month, surrounded by her family, according to the Carter Center.

Grandson Jason Carter acknowledged Trump and all the first ladies united in attendance, highlighting the “remarkable sisterhood” they shared with Rosalynn Carter.
