The Chicago Blackhawks put forward and former alternate captain Corey Perry on waivers Tuesday with the intent to terminate his contract.
Perry, 38, has been out of the team lineup for the last week, and the decision to remove the former Stanley Cup champion from the roster comes after an internal investigation, according to a release from the Blackhawks.

“After an internal investigation, the Chicago Blackhawks have determined that Corey Perry has engaged in conduct that is unacceptable, and in violation both of the terms of his Standard Player’s Contract and the Blackhawks’ internal policies intended to promote professional and safe work environments,” the release said. “As such, Corey Perry has been placed on unconditional waivers. In the event Mr. Perry clears waivers, we intend to terminate his contract effective immediately.”
The nature of Perry’s action has not been confirmed, but his last game with the team was Nov. 19.

After that, Perry was named a healthy scratch for the team’s Nov. 22 game, and team general manager Kyle Davidson soon announced that the forward would be stepping away from the organization for the “foreseeable future.”
Perry was drafted in 2003 and has amassed 421 goals and 471 assists in the 1,273 games played during his NHL career.
