White House sidesteps question about Biden dumping ‘Bidenomics’ branding

The White House insists President Joe Biden is not reconsidering the idea of “Bidenomics” despite not using the term in more than a month.
“When he talks about the economy, that is Bidenomics,” press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre told reporters Thursday. “When he talks about what we’re doing and how we’re delivering for the American people, that is Bidenomics.”

Jean-Pierre cited last week’s gross domestic product report that found the economy grew by 5.2%, with consumer prices flat in October compared to September but 3.2% higher than a year ago.
“He had signs just behind him last week that said ‘Bidenomics,'” she said. “You’ve heard me, as you just stated, and many other White House officials talk about how Bidenomics is indeed lowering costs.”
When pushed on the difference between their sunny rhetoric regarding the economy and public opinion, Jean-Pierre repeated prices were decreasing after 40-year high inflation.
“We are seeing lowering costs as we’re going into the holiday season,” the press secretary said. “We’re in a different place today than we were a year ago.”

“We understand that we’re coming out of a pandemic. What Americans had to deal with was a big deal,” she added. “This administration actually had to do the work.”
Jean-Pierre was asked about Bidenomics as House Democrats appear reluctant to use the word before next year’s general election in the hope of retaining control of the chamber.
