The rapper known as Kodak Black, who was pardoned by former President Donald Trump during his presidency’s final days, was arrested again on drug charges.

Black, 26, whose real name is Bill Kapri, was arrested Thursday in Florida on charges of cocaine possession and tampering with evidence. According to court documents, he was found asleep in his car while obstructing a roadway. A police officer noticed the smell of burnt cannabis, at which point he asked Black to exit the vehicle, NBC News reported.

Upon Black’s exit, however, the officer noticed “white powder falling from [Black’s] person,” leading him to believe the rapper “was trying to discard illegal narcotics.” He also said Black’s “mouth was full of white powder.”

Another rock-like substance was seen “on the ground,” which Black said was Percocet. The white substance tested positive for cocaine.

Since his pardon over charges of giving false information to the government on firearms paperwork, Black has had several run-ins with the law, though Thursday’s arrest appears to be the most severe. Earlier this year, he violated his probation by failing drug tests several times, resulting in an order to attend rehab. He was arrested on suspicion of trespassing on New Year’s Day 2022, but charges were not pressed.

In pardoning the rapper, Trump praised Black’s “charitable efforts,” saying: “He has committed to supporting a variety of charitable efforts, such as providing educational resources to students and families of fallen law enforcement officers and the underprivileged.”
