Nikki Haley campaign releases ad highlighting 17-point lead over Biden

EXCLUSIVE — Former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley’s presidential campaign released an ad on Monday highlighting the results of a recent poll that showed her leading President Joe Biden by 17 points if she wins the GOP nomination.

The ad compiled a collection of news hosts commenting on the dominating lead. The numbers came from a recent Wall Street Journal poll, which polled 1,500 registered voters and was released last week. The poll also saw former President Donald Trump beating Biden if the general election were held today — but only by 4 points. Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) tied the president.

“With Nikki Haley at the top of the ticket, Republicans will retire Joe Biden, retain the House, win the Senate, and win races up and down the ballot,” Haley’s spokesman Ken Farnaso told the Washington Examiner. “She is the leader America needs to move on from the chaos and drama of the past and is the best candidate to take on Donald Trump and Joe Biden.”

Haley received 51% of the vote in the poll, and Biden received 34%. However, Haley would need to secure the Republican nomination in order to face Biden. Haley also surpassed DeSantis in the poll, ranking second for the GOP primary with 15% of the vote, but she trailed Trump, who still holds a substantial lead for the nomination. DeSantis had 14%.

The ad comes as the campaign gears up for the Iowa caucuses and New Hampshire primary next month. Haley’s campaign also released an ad on Friday that focused on her husband Michael Haley’s service in the military. Friday’s ad was part of the campaign’s $10 million ad reservation, and it will air on broadcast, cable, and digitally. Monday’s ad will only be released digitally.

Both ads come after Haley appeared to field the most attacks in the Republican debate last week. During the debate, which was hosted by NewsNation, DeSantis joined entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy in blasting Haley for accepting donations from wealthy donors, telling the audience that she will “cave to the donors” who are “liberal” and “make money in China.”

Haley claimed that Ramaswamy was jealous of the support she has received from donors who used to support him, but Ramaswamy insisted that Haley was “corrupt.”

The former governor has seen momentum in her campaign following all four Republican presidential debates this year, but she still trails Trump by 47%, according to RealClearPolitics’s polling average. She is also 0.3% behind DeSantis, according to the current average.
