Dave Portnoy declares not hiring from universities promoting antisemitism is ‘common sense’

Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy declared Monday that not hiring graduates from “woke” universities is “common sense” as major schools are facing criticism for antisemitism on their campuses.

“There’s a difference between free speech and hate speech … and when you’re endangering people and causing harm, I think you got to put a stop to it. It’s called common sense,” Portnoy said, according to a report.

His comments come in the wake of apparent pro-Hamas sentiment spreading across traditionally renowned universities, including Harvard University, the University of Pennsylvania, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

The presidents of these universities are under intense pressure for their seeming failure to condemn calls for the genocide of the Jewish people during a House Education and the Workforce Committee hearing.

“The Deans of 3 supposedly prestigious Universities in the United States somehow refusing to condemn students calling for the Genocide of Jews on campus. AKA – the murder of all Jews. Newsflash that is calling for the murder of myself, my parents and my entire family. And these ‘leaders’ refuse to condemn this as hate speech on their campuses?” Portnoy posted to social media following the hearing.

“This isn’t debating whether there should be a cease fire or discussing the future of Israel and Palestine in the Middle East. This is calling for the MURDER OF ALL JEWS everywhere and these absolute coward school administrators refuse to condemn it.”

Although he does not plan to bring on any new employees from these universities, Portnoy said there are workers at Barstool Sports who have been “grandfathered” in because they were hired before the new freeze decision, the report noted.

“It’s not only me. I think a lot of leaders have to do it. It was disgusting what those deans and presidents did under oath. It makes no sense to me,” Portnoy said.

“I don’t know how, if you can’t condemn genocide, I don’t care whether we’re talking Jews, Muslims, any group of people, then you don’t deserve to be in a position of power. You got to get out.”
