Conway says Trump has voter ‘base-plus’ as lead in polls grows: ‘Biden doesn’t have his base’

Former White House counselor Kellyanne Conway reacted to new polling showing former President Donald Trump’s lead continuing to grow over Republican primary contenders, as well as President Joe Biden, in a potential general election rematch.

A new Bloomberg News-Morning Consult poll, which was conducted for the third consecutive month, shows Trump leading 47% to Biden’s 42% among swing states. The poll also indicates that Democratic voters’ dissatisfaction with Biden is growing, causing support among key demographics, including black voters and young voters, to drop.

“Trump is leading everybody in the Republican primary by significant double digits, and now he is leading Biden, an incumbent president, in every single swing state,” Conway told the Ingraham Angle. “The indictments of President Trump have actually bolstered his standing in the polls, particularly against Biden in head-to-heads. I’m tired of hearing, ’It’s his base, it’s his base, it’s his base.’”

“It’s his base-plus. This is not just a base. It’s base-plus,” Conway added. “There are more voters of color, more non-college-educated voters, more young people now leading Joe Biden, more independents for Donald Trump. And the second thing that’s going on is Joe Biden doesn’t have his base.”

Conway also commented on polling that asked how Trump’s support would fare if he is convicted in any of the indictments he currently faces

A Reuters-Ipsos poll indicated Trump would lose significant support if convicted, while a Wall Street Journal poll found a Trump vs. Biden matchup to be a toss-up should there be a Trump conviction.

The Wall Street Journal poll also showed that voters are more likely to support Trump if Biden is impeached.

“Biden in all those polls, Laura, is like between 41 and 43. He never really — you could put an inchworm,” Conway said.
