Haley not quick to debate DeSantis one-on-one: ‘The person I want to debate is Donald Trump’

Former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley said she has “no issue” with debating fellow GOP primary candidate Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL), but admitted her focus is elsewhere.

Haley appeared on Hannity Thursday night and was asked by host Sean Hannity if she would come on his show and debate the Florida governor.

“Well, I’ve debated him four times. I love debates. I have no issue with that. But quite honestly, Sean, the person I want to debate is Donald Trump. If you can get him on your show, that’s who I want to debate,” Haley said.

Trump has yet to appear for a Republican primary debate, often opting to hold rallies and events instead.

“That’s who we’re looking at,” Haley continued. “You know, we’re second place in Iowa, second place in New Hampshire, second place until South Carolina. Donald Trump’s the one we’re looking in the windshield. And that’s the one who needs to get up on the debate stage.”

Haley suggested Hannity would be a good moderator if he were to arrange for a debate between Trump and herself.

Trump leads his Republican primary rivals by double digits at 60.3%, with DeSantis at 12.6% barely above Haley at 12.1%, according to a RealClearPolitics poll.

The most recent Des Moines Register/NBC News/Mediacom Iowa poll showed Trump at 51%, with DeSantis at 19% and Haley at 16%.
