Joe Rogan shames left-wing Deadspin for accusing young Chiefs fan of blackface

Podcast host and comedian Joe Rogan blasted the left-wing news outlet Deadspin after it “hosed” a young Kansas City Chiefs fan as a racist in a Nov. 27 article that appeared to falsely accuse the child of wearing blackface.

“They tried … they totally f****** hosed him,” Rogan told a group of fellow comedians on the “Protect Our Parks” episode of The Joe Rogan Experience.

“They said he was in blackface, and they showed a picture of one side of his face,” Rogan continued. “He was wearing war paint, and he’s Native American.”

The story of 9-year-old Holden Armenta exploded after Deadspin writer Carron J. Phillips accused him of racism against Native Americans and black people for wearing face paint and a Native American headdress.

Following the deceiving article from Deadspin, the Armenta family have both lawyered up and taken their story to national TV, and Rogan and the comedians feel the family is justified in their course of action.

“To get racially sensitive at a f****** Kansas City Chiefs game … you’re at the wrong place, an entire stadium of White people going ‘oohhhh, oohhhh, oohhhh,'” comedian Shane Gillis said in reference to the Chiefs fan’s famous “tomahawk chop.”

“You’re gonna pick the one kid?”

Actor and comedian Ari Shaffir echoed Gillis calling the move to attack a 9-year-old “crazy.”

“It’s so crazy to put up a kid’s picture … a child, and get it wrong!” he said.

Rogan said that Deadspin did not just get the story wrong about Armenta; they got it wrong and doubled down afterward.

Armenta is descended from the Chumash Tribe located in Santa Ynez in California.

“Jesus, he’s deep,” according to Rogan. “He’s real Native American.”

“So, this f****** kid is literally dressing like his ancestors … bro, [the Armenta family] is getting paid for this one.”

The original version of Deadspin’s Nov. 27 article has been amended to remove any photo or reference to Aermenta specifically.

“We regret any suggestion that we were attacking the fan or his family,” a statement attached to the updated article reads.

“To that end, our story was updated on Dec. 7 to remove any photos, tweets, links, or otherwise identifying information about the fan. We have also revised the headline to better reflect the substance of the story.”
