Trump is closer to voters’ ideology than Biden on almost every issue: Poll

Voters are more ideologically aligned with former President Donald Trump than they are with President Joe Biden on a number of key issues, according to a poll released Monday.

The poll, which was conducted by YouGov and commissioned by Blueprint Polling, revealed that more voters say Trump is “close to my views” than Biden on every single policy except for election integrity.

OATH OF OFFICE: DID BIDEN FULFILL HIS PROMISE TO RESTORE THE ECONOMY?

“There’s no sugarcoating it — the Biden campaign has work to do. On almost every political issue, American voters view Trump as closer to their ideological position than Biden and see Biden as more extreme than Trump,” Blueprint Polling’s head pollster Evan Roth Smith said in a press release.

Trump had more voters say he reflected their views on hot-button topics such as abortion, transgender issues, climate change and the environment, crime, the border, inflation, Israel and Gaza, and Social Security.

He also fared better than Biden on jobs, foreign policy, business regulation, healthcare, government spending, asylum-seekers, and education.

“The message from voters is loud and clear — Biden’s policies are a failure,” Karoline Leavitt, spokeswoman for Make America Great Again Inc., told the Washington Examiner. “America wants a return to the prosperity of the Trump Era. That message will be evident on November 5, 2024 when the nation sends Donald Trump back to the White House.”

The poll also revealed that more voters felt Trump reflected their views on corruption, another pressing issue as both Trump and Biden have been investigated, and in Trump’s case, impeached. Trump has also been indicted on a slew of charges, while Biden’s family has come under the microscope over business dealings.

On Election integrity, the one policy more voters said Biden is “close to my views” on, 40% of voters agreed with Biden while 38% agreed with Trump.

The issue of abortion has been identified as a weak one for Republicans in elections, but Trump narrowly leads Biden on that topic 38% to 37%.

The poll also looked at Democrats’ ideology based on what social media platform they get their news from, between X, formerly Twitter, and TikTok.

Democrats who use TikTok are consistently more liberal on the issues than Democrats who use X, as the TikTok users responded that they felt Biden was too conservative on many topics.

The YouGov/Blueprint poll surveyed 1,012 voters from Dec. 2 to Dec. 5.

This poll, conducted by a polling company that leans left, coincides with other data that show Trump has emerged as the 2024 front-runner and is widening his lead.

A recent poll showed that Trump is leading Biden in Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, and North Carolina. If he pulled off a victory in those states, he would win an additional 38 electoral votes — which is exactly how many electoral votes he fell short by in 2020, with the goal being 270.

“Voters are focused on the most divisive and controversial Biden policies, harming the President’s position relative to Trump,” Smith said.
