Which stores will close early on Christmas Eve and give employees Christmas holiday off?

While some retailers have opted to keep their doors open on holidays in years past, several retailers will be closed on Christmas this year.

Many major retailers have also opted for limited hours on Christmas Eve. The choice to remain open on holidays in the past has drawn the ire of consumers who have pushed for allowing employees to spend time with their families.

This year last-minute shoppers will likely struggle to find an open store as Target, Walmart, Barnes & Noble, Dick’s Sporting Goods, and major department stores will be closed on Christmas.

Most Target stores will be open until 8 p.m. on Christmas Eve, while Walmart said it will close its stores at 6 p.m.

Costco will close at 5 p.m. on Christmas Eve, while Sam’s Club will remain open until 6 p.m. Dick’s Sporting Goods will also close at 6 p.m., with Barnes & Noble holding regular business hours.

Major department stores, including JCPenney, Nordstrom, and Macy’s, will also be open on Christmas Eve.

Most pharmacies, however, will be open regular hours on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, though some will reportedly have reduced hours.

Christmas falls on a Monday this year.
