Democrats go on offense before the sixth anniversary of Trump’s tax cuts

EXCLUSIVE — Democrats are trying a new strategy as they attempt to defend President Joe Biden‘s economic record, criticizing former President Donald Trump‘s economic policies before the sixth anniversary of his signing his GOP tax cuts bill into law.

In a statement provided to the Washington Examiner, the Democratic National Committee previewed the strategy before Friday’s anniversary as Biden struggles to sell what has become known as Bidenomics to the public before next year’s elections.

OATH OF OFFICE: DID BIDEN FULFILL HIS PROMISE TO RESTORE THE ECONOMY?

“After Donald Trump spent four years pushing his failed MAGAnomics agenda that rigged the economy for his ultra-wealthy donors and big corporations, President Biden is powering a small business boom all across the United States,” DNC press secretary Sarafina Chitika told the Washington Examiner.

While Trump “incentivized” companies to move American jobs overseas, 15 million small business applications were filed last year, black entrepreneurs opened small businesses at the fastest pace in three decades, costs are coming down, and more people are working around the country “than at any other point in history” under Biden, according to Chitika.

“The contrast couldn’t be clearer — Trump and MAGA Republicans are fighting for Wall Street while President Biden is laser-focused on fighting for Main Street and growing the middle class — exactly why voters will reelect President Biden to finish the job next year,” she said.

A Trump campaign spokesman did not respond to the Washington Examiner‘s request for comment, but the Republican National Committee criticized Bidenomics earlier this week.

“Americans feel pessimistic about the future because Joe Biden’s policies are failing,” RNC spokesman Tommy Pigott told reporters. “The silver lining? Americans will elect Republicans in 2024.”

Trump’s tax cuts, which were introduced in 2017 and reduced individual and corporate tax rates, among other reforms, are expected to expire at the end of 2025 unless Republicans secure the White House and both chambers of Congress in next year’s elections. The GOP contends the tax cuts expanded the economy, while Democrats cite it as an example of so-called trickle-down economics.

Biden is in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Wednesday to underscore Bidenomics, which includes his branded Investing in America agenda. There, he will deliver an address at the Wisconsin Black Chamber of Commerce as he strives to pitch his economic policies to voters, particularly minority ones.
