Haley closing in on Trump in New Hampshire: Poll

2024 Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley has come as close as ever to surpassing former President Donald Trump in the polls, according to a new survey conducted among New Hampshire voters.

New polling from the American Research Group found that 29% of likely Republican primary voters supported the former United States Ambassador to the United Nations versus 33% who backed the former commander in chief as of Dec. 14-20.

Haley’s surge over her competitors comes less than a month since Gov. Chris Sununu (R-NH) endorsed her.

The other remaining GOP candidates trailed Haley by significant amounts. Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie swept up 13% of support, followed by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who came in at 6%.

DeSantis has spent the majority of the past month campaigning in Iowa ahead of the state party’s caucus on Jan. 15, 2024, and was endorsed by Gov. Kim Reynolds (R-IA) in November.

Businessman Vivek Ramaswamy took home 5%, while former Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson finished last with just 1% of respondents supported.

Twelve percent of likely Republican voters who were polled by telephone said they were undecided ahead of the New Hampshire Republican primary on Jan. 23, 2024.

A RealClearPolitics average of polling taken between Dec. 4-18 among all GOP candidates shows that Trump still has the majority of the party’s support. Trump clocked in at 64%, followed by DeSantis at 12% and Haley at 11%.

The survey was conducted among 600 likely Republican primary voters living in New Hampshire, including 361 Republicans and 239 undeclared voters or Independents. It had a 4 percentage point margin of error.
