Taylor Swift took the world by storm in 2023. From her record-breaking concerts to being named Person of the Year, the last 12 months have solidified Swift as a pop culture force who could also affect the 2024 election.

The superstar kicked off with her Eras Tour, an international series of concerts where she performed 40 songs at every show. Her tour caused Ticketmaster to crash with over 3.5 billion total system requests, which was four times greater than its previous peak. Swift went on to make an estimated $1,039,263,762 during the Eras Tour 2023 leg, according to concert trade outlet Pollstar, which calculated the number by analyzing ticket prices in each area and the capacity of the venues.

Since 2019, Swift has made some $400 million in her song releases, $370 million in concert ticket sales and subsequent merchandise, and another $80 million in royalties from her musical catalog. This led to her reaching billionaire status in 2023 in music and performances alone. A Bloomberg News analysis found her net worth is about $1.1 billion.

During the fall, Swift rescued the film industry during the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists’s strike against major Hollywood studios. Swift released her Eras Tour recording in theaters on Oct. 13 when the strike against Amazon/MGM, Apple, NBCUniversal, Disney/ABC/Fox, Netflix, Paramount/CBS, Sony, and Warner Bros. had been going on for roughly 90 days. The movie made $126 million in its opening weekend alone, going on to earn $200 million. It beat Disney’s latest live-action release, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, in its opening weekend. Indiana Jones made roughly $172 million in domestic total during the first two months of its release.

Then, Swift flexed her political influence in September on National Voter Registration Day by inviting her Instagram followers to register to vote. Vote.org CEO Andrea Hailey would credit Swift for the 23% increase in registration from last year. The site averaged 13,000 users every 30 minutes.

With the 2024 presidential election approaching, Swift is expected to give an endorsement. In 2020, Joe Biden nabbed her endorsement just a month before the election. It remains to be seen if he will receive it again or if it will go to a new candidate.
