Archbishop Cardinal Dolan says we need to ‘constantly’ be reminded of God’s love

Archbishop of New York Cardinal Timothy Dolan said that people need to be “constantly” reminded of God’s love, including how God became incarnate among men to show His love.

Dolan joked that he had to confess that the Catholic church does reruns of the Christmas story, which is because of the stability of the Christmas message and how “we constantly need to be reminded of it.”

“Look, we often use the term ‘good news,'” Dolan said on Fox News’s Sunday Morning Futures with Maria Bartiromo. “This is the good news incarnate, all right? That God became one of us, God loves us so much that he said ‘I don’t want to be distant, I want to be part of this.’ So He actually became one of us, the divine became human.”

The archbishop acknowledged that many people might be discouraged by all the negativity and challenges that the world is facing, including two wars, rampant crime, and mental health crises. However, Dolan stated that Christmas teaches people that the forces of darkness will not have “the last word” and that people of faith know that the last word belongs to God.

“Now, in the long run, we sometimes think, ‘uh oh, the side of darkness seems to be winning,” Dolan said. “But we know how this script ends, okay, even in the midst of the trials that’s going on in that soil that we call Holy in the Holy Land where Jesus was born, we know there’s, we know there’s the hope of a truce.”

Dolan noted that many Jewish people throughout the world are still mourning and recovering from the attack Hamas carried out on Israel in October, both in terms of the attack and the aftermath of it. But he noted that despite how the Jewish community is shaken, they still “won’t give up,” even in the wake of the attack.
