Teenage boy uses ‘multiple weapons’ to kill parents and injure sister: Police

A 14-year-old boy was arrested in California for killing his parents and severely injuring his sister, police said Friday.

The suspect, who police did not identify due to his age, called local authorities in Fresno County to report a crime, Sheriff John Zanoni said at a press conference. He told the sheriff’s office that someone had come to his house, attacked his family, and fled in a truck. However, subsequent investigations revealed inconsistencies in the story.

“Evidence ultimately showed that he had fabricated the story of a break-in and was responsible for using multiple weapons to attack his mom, his dad, and his sister,” Zanoni said.

The parents, Lue and Se Vang, were both found dead, according to Zanoni. The daughter was brought to a hospital with critical injuries and went through surgery but is expected to survive. The suspect’s brother, who was 7, was not injured during the events. The brother is now being cared for by other family members, authorities said.

The teenage suspect is currently in juvenile hall and faces two charges of murder, the sheriff said in a news release.

The multiple weapons have not been publicly identified, and Zanoni did not elaborate on how the victims died. Authorities have also not determined the motive behind the crimes.

“The tragedy of the situation is of such a high magnitude because two children have lost their mother and father due to the actions of their other sibling,” the sheriff said. “Those children will grow up without a mother and a father because of this incident.”
