Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has met the signature requirement to appear on the presidential ballot in Utah in November.

Kennedy made the 1,000-signature requirement to make the ballot in the Beehive State and now has until March 5 to file his candidacy for president in Utah, state officials said.

Utah was the first state where Kennedy’s campaign submitted signatures for ballot qualification, and it is the first state where he has been able to qualify.

Kennedy is set to host a press conference in Salt Lake City, Utah, on Wednesday, where he will speak about his ballot status. His campaign said it will attempt to get on the ballot in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. Kennedy’s campaign has not said when he will file in Utah.

RFK Jr. had originally announced his intention to seek the Democratic nomination when he launched his presidential bid last year but later switched to an independent candidacy. He is the son of former Democratic New York Sen. Robert F. Kennedy and the nephew of former President John F. Kennedy.

The number of notable third-party candidates in the 2024 election, including Kennedy, could cause problems for the presidential nominees of the Republican and Democratic parties. Third-party candidates have played spoiler in several past elections, being blamed for denying Republicans and Democrats the White House.
