Haley announces $24 million fourth-quarter haul as campaign looks to ride momentum into Iowa

January 03, 2024 11:51 AM

Former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley’s presidential campaign announced Wednesday a $24 million fundraising haul in the fourth quarter of 2023.

With the significant sum, Haley has outraised any of her other quarters since launching her campaign. The $24 million her campaign brought in during the final months of 2023 was more than double the totals she amassed in quarters one, two, or three — during which she raised $11 million, $7 million, and $11 million, respectively.

“This is a two-person race between Nikki Haley and Donald Trump,” campaign manager Betsy Ankney said. “Nikki is the only Trump alternative with the voter support, the operation, and the resources to go the distance. Our momentum continues to build as we head into 2024.”

To start 2024, the former South Carolina governor has $14.5 million in cash on hand.

It is unclear how Haley’s haul stacks up against her competitors, namely President Joe Biden, former President Donald Trump, and Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL), as they have not yet released theirs.

According to Haley’s campaign, her three campaign committees have surpassed $50 million in contributions from a total of 180,000 donors.

In a press release, Haley’s team revealed that it picked up 83,900 new donors during the fourth quarter.

Haley’s impressive fundraising bounty comes as she continues to see momentum in the Republican primary race while remaining significantly behind Trump, who has maintained his lead over the primary field and strengthened his grasp on Republican voters.

In New Hampshire, which has driven her rise in the polls, Haley recently came within 14 points of the former president, per a new poll from the Saint Anselm College Survey Center. In Iowa, she has managed to lessen the gap between herself and DeSantis, who has focused nearly all of his time and resources there in the last few months, coming just a few points behind him at 16% while he sits at 19%, according to a Des Moines Register poll that came out Dec. 11, 2023.

Nationally, Haley has tied DeSantis at 11% while Trump boasts 66%, according to a poll from Morning Consult. The first Republican nominating contest, the Iowa caucuses, will take place Jan. 15. It will be followed by New Hampshire’s primary on Jan. 23.
