Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) could not hide her apparent disdain for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu when asked about him.

Pelosi appeared on Inside Politics on Thursday, where she skirted a question from host Dana Bash on what she thought of the Netanyahu administration amid its war with Hamas. The California representative made it clear during the interview that she has been in favor of “new leadership in Israel for a long time.”

“That’s not the issue. The issue is, is it in our national interest to support Israel? Yes. I think that that has been clear. They are our ally in the region. And Yes, I think we should support them,” Pelosi said. “I don’t think that Netanyahu represents — let’s not even go into him. I don’t like to talk about those kinds of people, as I’ve said about what’s-his-name.”

Pelosi has long referred to former president Donald Trump as “what’s-his-name” over using his name, implying Netanyahu and Trump are lumped into the same “kinds of people.”

Instead, the former speaker of the House pointed to another aid bill President Joe Biden has proposed with millions of dollars toward assisting refugees in Gaza. She slammed the Republicans in her chamber for not moving a bill forward with the proposed aid. According to Pelosi, the solution involves a two-state agreement, which hasn’t been accomplished in over 70 years despite many attempts.

Congress has been unable to pass a bill to aid Israel in either chamber since the House elected Rep. Mike Johnson (R-LA) as speaker. In the meantime, the State Department bypassed congressional approval twice to use its emergency powers to sell ammunition to Israel.

Netanyahu, 74, served as prime minister from 2009, was briefly ousted in 2021, and won his reelection in 2022. Pelosi, 83, has been in the House for nearly 37 years.
