Democrats accuse Nikki Haley of ‘siding with election deniers’ ahead of Jan. 6 anniversary

EXCLUSIVE — The Democratic National Committee is attacking former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley for associating with Republicans who questioned the results of the 2020 election ahead of the third anniversary of the Jan. 6 Capitol riot.

The DNC described a new ad Haley commissioned in New Hampshire with 2022 Senate candidate Don Bolduc as “disgraceful” and the “latest example” of the former South Carolina governor “siding with election deniers and MAGA extremists over American voters and values.” The ad, released Friday, is part of her final push in the Granite State as she runs for the GOP nomination for president in 2024.

“Haley already made notorious election denier Don Bolduc her New Hampshire campaign chair — now she’s running ads with him the day before the anniversary of the attack on our nation’s Capitol to make it crystal clear that she will always put her political ambitions ahead of our democracy,” DNC press secretary Sarafina Chitika told the Washington Examiner. “Haley continues to show why she is the wrong candidate to lead and unite this country and why voters will never allow a MAGA extremist like her to put our freedoms in danger.”

The Haley campaign did not respond to a request for comment but touted Bolduc for his 10 tours in Afghanistan in a press release promoting the ad. Bolduc, a retired U.S. Army brigadier general, has equivocated on whether he stands by the results of the 2020 election, claiming before he became the Republican nominee for Senate in New Hampshire that the contest was stolen from former President Donald Trump.

“Gen. Bolduc is an American hero who served our country above and beyond the call of duty,” Haley spokeswoman Olivia Perez-Cubas said. “Nikki is winning over Granite State voters of all sorts, from former Trump supporters to grassroots Republicans to independents. That’s the winning formula for beating Joe Biden in a landslide, which is what all the polls show she will do.”

Earlier this week, the DNC criticized Trump for dispatching Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) to campaign for him in Iowa before the Jan. 15 caucuses, the Republican primary’s opening contest. President Joe Biden is delivering an address marking the third anniversary of the riot near the Revolutionary War site Valley Forge, Pennsylvania.
