The View held a belated birthday bash for host Ana Navarro on Friday celebrating her turning 52 years old with decadence, drag queens, and a lot of DeSantis bashing.

Drag queens from R House, a Miami location with a history of battling Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL), joined the hosts of The View. All in attendance were quick to discuss the importance of drag.

“There’s no one that’s out of place at a drag show. It does feel so inclusive, which I love,” host Sara Haines said. “But, the R House is located in Miami, which is under the state rule of Gov. DeSantis, and I know he’s really come for drag shows and LGBT-plus communities.”

“And our shoes, too,” one of the drag queens chimed in.

“Why is it so important, now more than ever, to keep performing?” Haines said.

The drag queen who remarked on DeSantis’s footwear attempted to offer an explanation.

“Well, let me tell you something. The arts saves lives. Can I get a amen?” he said. “Drag shows bring people together. When you come to our show, you leave your problems at the door. You leave whatever the governor said at the door, whatever the president said at the door.”

“You don’t want to hear about them at our show,” he added. “You come to our show to hear Cher, Beyonce, Lady Gaga, and have a good time.”

It does not matter who a person is or where they come from. Everyone at a show is there to celebrate the art the drag queens provide, the performer added.

“It’s [a] place where people come together,” he added. “It’s really magic.”

Host Joy Behar then took an opportunity to revisit the topic of DeSantis’s wardrobe.

“Do you think that maybe DeSantis secretly wants to get dressed up in lady’s clothes?” she asked. “Is that possible?”

“Well, he has my number … So, I don’t know,” the drag queen said.

Navarro then took a swing at the governor and GOP presidential hopeful for his tilt with R House.

“I think it’s really important that we understand that it’s not that DeSantis went after LGBTQ and drag. He went after the R House. In specific, he tried to shut them down for over a year,” she said.

“They’ve been attacked. They’ve been targeted. They’ve been terrorized. They’ve spent a fortune in legal fees, and, so, you know what, the drag queens survived, and his campaign is dead.”
