The White House refused to say whether Hunter Biden stayed at the executive mansion this week and whether President Joe Biden was aware of his son’s surprise visit to Congress Wednesday.

During repeated questions at the press briefing, press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre declined to provide any insight into the president’s knowledge or role in his indicted son’s continued defiance of a congressional subpoena.

“He makes his own decisions, like he did today, about how to respond to Congress,” Jean-Pierre told reporters Wednesday of the first son during the White House press briefing.

The younger Biden shocked Washington earlier on Wednesday with a surprise appearance at a House Oversight Committee hearing where lawmakers were discussing whether to hold him in contempt of Congress. He then left just as abruptly when GOPers began laying into him.

That left Jean-Pierre scrambling to answer Hunter-related questions, something she’s become familiar with since taking over the job in May of 2022.

“Hunter Biden on Capitol Hill — how big of a headache is that for you?” Fox News correspondent Peter Doocy asked.

“Hunter Biden is a private citizen,” Jean-Pierre responded after chuckling at the question. “He is not a member of the White House, as you know, and I just don’t have anything else to share.”

Doocy noted that Jean-Pierre previously said President Joe Biden was familiar with what his son would say when he skipped a congressional subpoena to make a public statement on Dec. 13.

“He doesn’t help with his business, but does help him skirt congressional subpoenas?” he asked.

Jean-Pierre didn’t laugh at that inquiry, calling it “incredibly disingenuous” and “a jump” that is “not even true.”

“I don’t have anything else to share,” she said.

But the Hunter Biden questions didn’t end there. One reporter asked if the younger Biden stayed at the White House the night before his appearance, which Jean-Pierre didn’t confirm or deny. She also did not answer directly when asked if Joe Biden had spoken to his son either before or after the incident.

President Joe Biden has launched his reelection campaign in earnest and will hope to avoid Hunter-related distractions as the year wears on. It’s a task that may be easier said than done as his son will appear before a federal court Thursday on tax fraud charges and House Republicans advance their impeachment inquiry into Biden family foreign business dealings.
