Stimulus update: Direct payment from Alaska fund worth $1,312 to be sent to some in seven days

The Alaska Department of Revenue is set to send checks from the state’s 2023 Permanent Fund Dividend to eligible residents who have yet to receive payment in seven days.

The checks going out in a week are to Alaskans who are eligible for the 2023 or earlier PFD payment but did not receive it during prior disbursements. The program began sending its 2023 payments to eligible residents in October.

Residents who had the “Eligible-Not Paid” status by Wednesday and have yet to receive their PFD check from 2023 or earlier will get their check from the program on Jan. 18, per the state.

Applications for the 2024 Permanent Fund Dividend are currently open until March 31 for eligible residents. Alaskans can apply for the program by filling out an application online or via paper form.

The state determines how much the PFD check is worth based on Alaska’s mineral revenues for that year. Each PFD check for 2023 was worth $1,312 per resident.

“The 2023 PFD marks the 42nd year Alaskans have received their share of the state’s natural resource wealth,” Alaska Department of Revenue Commissioner Adam Crum said in a statement. “I would like to thank our Permanent Fund Dividend Division for their tireless work year-round in administering the program and processing the applications.”

“This year, we processed over 8,000 more applications than in 2022,” he added in 2023. “The 2023 PFD will inject nearly $1 billion into the state’s economy and directly into the hands of Alaskans.”

An applicant must intend to remain a resident of Alaska indefinitely and not be a convicted felon, among other requirements, to qualify for the state program.
