CBP captures more than $1.2 million in meth at Texas border

Officers with U.S. Customs and Border Protection captured more than $1.2 million worth of methamphetamine Wednesday at the Texas-Mexico border.

The seizure occurred at the Juarez-Lincoln Bridge at the Laredo Port of Entry when at least one CBP officer spotted a bus attempting to enter the United States and referred it for a secondary inspection, according to a CBP release.

A 62-year-old Mexican male national was identified as a passenger of the commercial bus, and a search of the vehicle, including a canine inspection, led to the discovery of 140.76 lbs of alleged methamphetamine hidden within personal items.

“The narcotics had a street value of $1,294,367,” the release read.

After the discovery of the methamphetamine, CBP officials seized the drugs, and the Mexican national was arrested.
