Stimulus update: Direct payment from Alaska fund worth $1,312 to be sent to some in one day

In one day, Alaskans who have yet to receive their check from the 2023 Permanent Fund Dividend and are eligible to get one will receive their payment from the state.

Those who had the “Eligible-Not Paid” status on Jan. 10 and have not received a PFD payment from 2023 or earlier will receive a check on Thursday.

The state opened applications for the 2024 Permanent Fund Dividend earlier this month, and they will remain open until March 31. The application for the state program can be filled out online or via paper form.

To be eligible for the program, an applicant must intend to remain a resident of Alaska indefinitely and not be a convicted felon, among other requirements.

The 2023 PFD check was worth $1,312 per eligible resident, according to the Alaska Department of Revenue, and it began going out to residents in October.

“The 2023 PFD marks the 42nd year Alaskans have received their share of the state’s natural resource wealth,” Alaska Department of Revenue Commissioner Adam Crum said in a statement about the payment last year. “I would like to thank our Permanent Fund Dividend Division for their tireless work year-round in administering the program and processing the applications.”

“This year, we processed over 8,000 more applications than in 2022,” he added in 2023. “The 2023 PFD will inject nearly $1 billion into the state’s economy and directly into the hands of Alaskans.”

The Alaska Permanent Fund Dividend program gives eligible residents an annual payment based on the state’s mineral revenues for that year. Alaska residents looking for further information about the Permanent Fund Dividend can find details about the program on the Alaska Department of Revenue’s website.
