Rep. Jasmine Crockett claims Republicans are using racial targeting of big city leaders in sending immigrants

Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) accused Republicans of targeting ‘communities of color’ when sending immigrants from the border to major cities like Chicago, New York, and Philadelphia.

“Republicans are yelling that the states don’t have the tools to help with migrants but rather than work with Democrats, Republicans are targeting communities of color in cities like Chicago, New York and Philadelphia,” Crockett said on Wednesday at a House Oversight and Accountability Committee hearing.

She added, “And while they say that it’s about Democrat-run cities, I do want to point out another similarity they have: These are cities run by African Americans.”

Crockett continued to explain that Republican leaders are being racist about where immigrants are being sent.

“While they are pretending that there are no racial undertones, it is just striking to me that we are specifically going after African American-run cities,” she said.

The Texas Democrat further explained in the hearing that rapper Cardi B’s criticism of the migrant crisis should put more blame on Republicans than Democrat city leaders like Mayor Eric Adams.

“Let me talk about somebody else who wants to speak out about New York, and I want to make sure that she understands that the Democrats aren’t the problem but Republicans are. And that’s Cardi B. Cardi B specifically talked about her frustration because the mayor came out and said they don’t have the resources that they need,” she said.

She continued, “But guess who has tried to give the resources to these cities and stood in obstruction? President Biden.”

“We are not here to campaign but we are here to legislate,” she said.

Crockett has been a fierce progressive defender of the Biden family. She went viral a few weeks ago when she defended Hunter Biden.

“The idea that they are going to somehow get to President Biden through his son, who was drug addicted, and the only thing that they have revealed in these hearings is that we have a president who loves his son, even through his imperfections,” Crockett said in an MSNBC appearance last year.

During a hearing last week, Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) called out the president’s son for his “white privilege,” and Crockett came to his defense.

Crockett slammed Mace’s comments, calling them a “spit in the face” to her as a black woman.

“So let me tell you something — y’all don’t know what white privilege looks like. … You see, you want to talk about a two-tier justice system, and this is the only time that y’all have ever referenced it when this country has a history when it comes to black and brown folk, of having two separate sets of rules,” she said.

Crockett previously went viral during a September hearing of the Republican impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden when she profanely described former President Donald Trump’s handling of classified documents in a Mar-a-Lago bathroom.
