Golfer Hailey Davidson, a biological male who identifies as a woman, declared that safety concerns and death threats have become par for the course after winning the NXXT Women’s Classic tournament in Florida.

“I don’t go out and do a ton much because of that,” Davidson, a 31-year-old, said in an interview published Monday. “I’m not, you know, going out at nights … I watch myself when I sit in a restaurant.”

“I’ll always have my back to a wall.”

Davidson won the NXXT Women’s Classic last week after being three shots behind after the 16th hole, and the win sees the athlete come one step closer to qualifying for LPGA.

This possibility has made many furious and allege that Davidson has an unfair advantage over the biologically female competition.

“Honestly, I 100% agree,” Davidson said. “The men do have advantages. Say you get a trans person on hormones for a year, no surgery, nothing … of course, for the most part, they’re gonna have an advantage.”

“I don’t believe trans people should be banned from sports, but I do believe there need to be guidelines in effect.”

Davidson, who is at least three years post-gender reassignment surgery, is the first male-born golfer to win a professional women’s event but does not understand why everyone is concerned with one person competing.

“It’s always interesting how no one gets angry until there is any form of success,” Davidson posted to Instagram. “While this win was amazing, unlike every article is saying, I am so incredibly far from the LPGA Tour with a lot of work to be done to possibly earn my way there one day.”

“I will never allow hate to win, especially when based in some misinformation … Keep swinging and Flush It!”
